IDGC of Centre continues implementation of environmental measures

7 November 2017

In the Year of Ecology in Russia, IDGC of Centre implements more than 50 environmental measures in regions of its service area (11 subjects of the Central Federal District), more than 40 million rubles are planned to be allocated for this purpose.

For 9 months of 2017, according to the Program for the Environmental Policy Implementation of IDGC of Centre for 2017-2018, 54 measures were taken by the energy company. The work was carried out in the following areas: protection of atmospheric air - instrumental control of efficiency of gas purification plants and monitoring compliance with the maximum permissible emissions standards was carried out, the company’s vehicles were tested for toxicity and smoke in a timely manner, the amount of motor vehicles operating on environmentally "clean" fuel increased by 143 vehicles; protection and rational use of water resources - instrumental quality control of extracted groundwater and sewage discharged into urban municipal sewerage systems was performed; protection and rational use of land - sites for temporary waste accumulation are equipped, containers for accumulation of wastes were purchased.

At electric grid facilities of IDGC of Centre more than 1,000 km of bare wire were replaced with self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). This measure allows to reduce the cut-off area of ROWs (done to prevent failures associated with falling trees onto power lines), as well as to protect birds against the impact of electric current. For these purposes, the power company installed on poles of power lines 4,488 special bird protective devices.

During the reporting period, 95 managers and specialists of IDGC of Centre, responsible for environmental protection, were trained under environmental safety programs, including in the field of hazardous waste management.

"The environmental policy implementation is defined as one of the priority areas of work of IDGC of Centre. The company’s principles are aimed not only at ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality provision of electricity to consumers, but also striving to do so with an account of environmental values," stresses Elena Kalinina, the head of IDGC of Centre's Industrial Safety Office.
