IDGC of Centre’s power engineers mobilized to eliminate technological violations caused by bad weather

2 August 2017

In the regions of Central Russia, located in the service area of IDGC of Centre, the meteorological situation is deteriorating. The power engineers mobilized forces and resources and took all necessary measures to effectively resist the bad weather and prevent serious disruptions in the operation of grid facilities.

The strongest storm caused a power failure in the western districts of the Tver region: Nelidovsky, Andreapolsky and Toropetsky districts. There are also local outages in Ostashkovsky and Torzhoksky districts, and not so long ago the storm hit Tver. Strong wind with gusts up to 18-23 m/s literally pulls out trees and fells them on power lines, causing wire breaks. Due to rainfall in the epicenter of the cyclone, there is almost zero visibility.

A special operating mode has been introduced in IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division. The power engineers have put all efforts to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. At present, where possible, 12 emergency repair crews of Tverenergo, equipped with specialized vehicles, have already begun to eliminate the failures. Another 20 crews of the branch are in a state of high readiness. According to the decision of the Power Security Staff of Rosseti, which supervises the course of the emergency repair work, power engineers of FGC UES, as well as specialists of MOESK, have also left for the Tver branch to the aid. If necessary, the composition of emergency response crews will be increased. Thanks to the interaction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Tver region, all de-energized social facilities are currently provided with backup sources of electricity.

In the meantime, a special mode of operation has been introduced in the branch "Smolenskenergo", and a high-availability mode has been introduced in the branches "Belgorodenergo", "Kurskenergo", "Lipetskenergo", "Orelenergo", "Voronezhenergo" and "Tambovenergo". In their service area weather conditions are expected to deteriorate - rain, thunder, wind up to 15 m/s. In all the branches mentioned, meetings of crisis management centres under the leadership of enterprise managers were held, at which a number of organizational decisions were made. A special control over the operation of power facilities has been established. An information exchange has been organized with the territorial subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and executive authorities. Operational and repair personnel have been mobilized. All crews are equipped with necessary tools, adaptations, overalls, provided with off-road specialized vehicles, prepared for round-the-clock operation in any conditions. The contact centre of IDGC of Centre receives round-the-clock calls from citizens via the single direct number at 8-800-50-50-115 (free of charge).
