Specialists of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region restored stable operation of power grid facilities of the regions of the Central Federal District and Volga Federal District after heavy rains and thunderstorms

31 July 2017

Specialists of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region have restored the steady operation of the power grid complex in the regions of their service area, which suffered from rain showers and thunderstorms over the past weekend. Electricity supply to consumers on the main grid is provided in the regular mode. In a number of regions, the high alert mode, introduced in connection with the bad weather, has already been cancelled. At present, in some regions the power engineers are eliminating the remaining technological violations in sections of 6-10 kV high-voltage lines, including those in the consumer’s service area, where work is carried out according to their requests. It is planned to finish them for today.

Please, be reminded that on Saturday and Sunday rain showers, thunderstorms and stormy wind caused power failures in several regions of the service area of both companies. In the service area of IDGC of Centre, the bad weather affected, in particular, the Kostroma and Kursk regions. Among the affected regions of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region were the Ryazan, Vladimir, Tula, Kirov regions, the Republic of Mari El. The cause of power outages in most cases was the fall of trees and branches on power lines, as well as clogging and breakage of wires due to strong wind.

Both companies were ready for the bad weather. In the branches, where the weather deterioration was forecasted, special control over the operation of power facilities was established and first responding and repair personnel were mobilized. This allowed to minimize the negative consequences. First responding crews immediately respond to emerging technological disruptions, promptly moving to a fault location site and proceeding to eliminate the effects of bad weather.

The power engineers worked around the clock. If necessary, mobile crews from neighbouring districts were sent to help them, which were not affected by the bad weather. First of all, socially significant facilities were fed. The measures taken made it possible to ensure, within the most possible for such situations terms, stable electricity supply to consumers of the regions with the main grid.

By the morning, the electricity supply to consumers in the Tula region was fully restored, and several hours later the consequences of technological violations in the Kostroma, Kirov and Mari El regions were eliminated. In the Ryazan and Vladimir regions, which were hit by several waves of the thunderstorm front in the morning and during the day, the power engineers are also completing the restoration of the regular operation of the grids and working on individual requests received from consumers in individual settlements.

The maximum number of crews involved in the restoration work in the territories affected by the disaster was 131: 393 people and 131 vehicles. The power engineers continue to monitor the situation in all the regions and are ready to react quickly to possible violations in the operation of the power grid complex.

The contact centre of IDGC of Centre receives round-the-clock calls from citizens. The single direct number of power engineers of IDGC of Centre is 8-800-50-50-115, IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - 8-800-100-33-00. All calls are toll-free.
