Employees of Orelenergo promptly restore the power supply disrupted by bad weather

1 July 2017

Passed over the previous night over Central Russia, the thunderstorm front caused power failures in several regions. And the Orel region suffered from the effects of bad weather: storms that struck it, showers and squally winds led to de-energization of a number of settlements in some districts of the Orel region. Employees of IDGC of Centre – Orelenergo division promptly began to eliminate technological violations. In districts where outages were of a local nature, they were eliminated during the night. Currently, active restoration work continues in settlements in Orlovsky, Verkhovsky, Kromsky and Maloarkhangelsky districts, in the most affected sections of overhead lines where poles fell and wires were broken caused by excessive wind loads and trees falling beyond the boundaries of security zones of power lines. Reinforced forces and means of repair crews of Orelenergo are working at them.

Restoration of power supply is being carried out by 14 crews with involvement of 17 vehicles. Social facilities that are in the outage zone are energized in the first place, including using temporary circuits. Crews from neighbouring Distribution Zones are sent to Orlovsky district, the most affected by the disaster, to help restore the energy supply to consumers.

Most of the outages that occurred during the night period were eliminated within an hour and a half. So, for example, it took 9 minutes for Orelenergo’s employees to restore power supply to 6.5 thousand consumers in Orlovsky district, receiving electricity from the Volodarskaya and Novoselovo substations. In the shortest possible time, thanks to prompt reconnection with reserve lines, the light returned to homes of residents of the Northern District of the city of Orel and the surrounding settlements.

Orelenergo operates a special operating mode. The operational situation is under constant control. The operational headquarters for the elimination of technological violations is in cooperation with the territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the executive authorities in real time.

To get information about the course of emergency repairs and the anticipated timing of resupply of power in their locality, residents of the region can contact the Distribution Zones’ phones, which can be found on the company’s official website, or by the 24-hour direct line of power engineers at 8-800-50-50-115 (the call is free).
