Power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region continue to work in high alert mode due to unfavourable weather forecast

31 May 2017

According to Roshydromet in the near future in the territories of the Central and Volga federal districts deterioration of weather conditions is forecasted: downpours, thunderstorms and wind intensification.

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region are fully prepared for emergencies in the electric grid complex: continuous monitoring of the meteorological situation is being performed, control over the functioning of equipment and working capacity of power facilities has been increased. First responding and repair staff of the branches have been mobilized.

In particular, forces of the Smolensk, Tver, Tambov and Yaroslavl branches have been mobilized in the regions of IDGC Centre’s service area. In the regions where IDGC of Centre and Volga Region operates – the Ivanovo, Kaluga, Ryazan and Vladimir branches. All crews are provided with necessary tools, gear, overalls, are equipped with high-speed specialized vehicles, prepared for round-the-clock operation in any conditions. With the subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Roshydromet and municipal entities, clear information interaction has been established.

In the event of power outages, the power engineers are ready to promptly begin to eliminate technological disturbances caused by unfavourable weather events.

The power engineers warn that after passing through the atmospheric front, power line wires can be damaged by trees falling under the pressure of a strong wind. In order not to fall under voltage, it is necessary to remember: it is mortally dangerous to approach trees lying on wires (since they can remain energized), saggy or torn wires. If there is a broken wire on your path, do not approach it closer than 8 metres. If you are at a closer distance, walk away from the wire without taking your feet off the ground.

For all questions residents can contact the numbers of the Contact Centres of the energy companies: 8-800-50-50-115 (IDGC of Centre) and 8-800-100-33-00 (IDGC of Centre and Volga Region).
