IDGC of Centre summed up environmental activities for the 1st quarter of 2017

25 April 2017

IDGC of Centre summarized the implementation of the Program for Environmental Safety and Rational Use of Natural Resources for the 1st quarter of 2017. During the reporting period, 1 draft MPE was developed to standardize the maximum permissible emissions (MPE) of pollutants into the atmosphere. Instrumental control of observance of MPE standards on 7 sources of emissions of production departments was carried out, exceeding of established standards was not revealed.

To prevent pollution of the land with waste products of production and consumption the company’s power engineers regularly set up sites for accumulation of waste, containers are marked, primary waste records are kept, generation and movement logs for all types of waste are maintained. Under contracts for transfer and utilization of waste with specialized organizations that have the relevant licenses, about 1,450 tons of wastes of the first-fifth hazard classes were delivered. Absorbents of biodegradation are used in case of minor contamination of soils and solid surfaces with oil products. Sites for accumulation of mercury-containing lamps is equipped with demercurization kits, 25 such kits were purchased for the 1st quarter of 2017.

To increase the level of environmental safety at power grid facilities, the grid company uses advanced technologies and solutions for transmission and distribution of electricity in the modernization of power grid equipment. During overhaul, technical re-equipment and reconstruction of power grid facilities for the past period the power engineers replaced 19 oil circuit breakers of 10 kV for vacuum ones; changed 4 sets of isolating and short-circuiting switches with gas-insulated circuit breakers; installed 3 SF6 circuit-breakers of 35 kV instead of oil ones. In contrast to oil-filled equipment such equipment has an increased reliability and durability indicator, has high technical parameters, is fireproof.

The power engineers pay special attention to protection of animals around electrical installations. The company uses advanced technologies: to protect birds from effects of electrical current, ordinary wires are replaced with self-supporting insulated wire (SIW), which also allows to reduce the cutting area of ROWs. In addition, 456 special bird protection devices were installed on poles of 6-110 kV overhead power lines in the 1st quarter of 2017.

Personnel responsible for environmental protection are trained in environmental safety programs, including in the field of hazardous waste management. Thus, in the 1st quarter of 2017, 8 managers and specialists from IDGC of Centre were trained on the topic "Ensuring environmental safety of general economic management systems" to improve the qualification of staff in the field of environmental protection, 14 employees of IDGC of Centre were trained on the topic "Management of hazardous waste". Upon completion of the training certificates and permits for the right to work with dangerous waste were issued.

According to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, 2017 was declared the Year of Ecology in Russia. IDGC of Centre pays much attention to environmental safety and carries out its activities in accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation, seeking to reduce the negative impact of the Company’s production activities on the environment.

Each branch of the company implements a comprehensive system of measures to maintain the required level of environmental safety at power facilities. The current Environmental Policy Implementation Program is planned for 2017-2018.
