A leading engineer of the energy saving and energy efficiency office of IDGC of Centre – Orelenergo division Alexander Balabin and Associate Professor of the Power Supply Department of Orel State Agrarian University (OrelSAU) Yury Volchkov received a certificate for a rationalization proposal on the method of analyzing the efficiency of work and the criteria for deciding on the repair of a power transformer, accepted to be used in IDGC of Centre.
Until now, repair was considered the most economical way to maintain the performance of transformers. Alexander Balabin and Yury Volchkov conducted a feasibility study of 10(6)/0.4 kV transformers, which analyzed the idling losses in repaired equipment and its modern analogues. The analysis showed that major overhaul of transformers can lead to an increase in idling losses, while in new ones this figure is 2-2.5 times lower - accordingly, their use is more preferable, as along with a decrease in electricity losses in grids, provides increased reliability of electricity supply to consumers.
The system of evaluation characteristics applied by the scientific tandem was the basis of the new methodology. It will be implemented in all branches of IDGC of Centre.
