The event is held on the territory of the South-Western State University, where the technopark is actively developing. Its traditional partner is Rosseti Group of Companies.

The first day of the start-up tour included master classes with participation of experts. Thus, Vladimir Sofyin, Director of Technological Development and Innovation Department of PJSC "Rosseti", told the forum participants about the policy of innovation development of the group of companies, on the current problems of the power grid complex, which can be solved with the help of innovative technologies. To attract innovative teams and projects in the field of intellectual energy, Rosseti together with the Skolkovo Foundation, with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, organized the contest "Energoproryv". In 2016, it was presented more than 250 innovative projects in the field of breakthrough and improving technologies aimed at increasing the efficiency of the electric power industry.

IDGC of Centre at the Open Innovations Startup Tour is represented by Deputy Chief Engineer for Development and Innovation Dmitry Rybnikov, Head of Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Department Natalia Yakshina, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director Alexander Rudnevsky. The day before they shared IDGC of Centre’s achievements in the field of innovations, informed the participants of the event about what projects might be of interest to power engineers, and also introduced them to their own innovative projects of the company.

Dmitry Rybnikov noted, in particular, that IDGC of Centre successfully implements the technology of smart grids, which allows ensuring high reliability, reducing the number of interruptions in power supply. The company plans to create a "new generation" grid by 2025.

Natalia Yakshina said that IDGC of Centre in 2016 acted as a mentor of the project "Automatic feeder switchboard", which was included in the top three projects of the contest "Energoproryv". This development is designed to equalize phase loads in the 0.4 kV grid and is of practical interest for power grid companies. Currently, the project is being modified to create a prototype.

All speakers on the eve of the forum noted the importance of the Open Innovations Startup for innovative development of the country, as well as the applied nature of many of the 50 projects submitted to the regional competition to address the economic and social issues of the region and the country. Today these projects are presented for consideration by an expert jury, which includes two representatives of the Kursk branch of IDGC of Centre.
