IDGC of Centre supports the movement "WorldSkills Russia"

10 March 2017

The third regional championship of working professions "Young Professionals" (WorldSkills Russia) was held in Yaroslavl. Specialists of the Yaroslavl branch of IDGC of Centre, in the framework of cooperation with Yaroslavl Automotive College, took part in organizing and preparing the competence of the event. In the professional competence of "electrical installation work" students carried out the installation of electrical equipment of a residential building and industrial facility, conducted tests of assembled installations and troubleshoot faults prepared in advance by experts. Among six people, who competed in the competence of electrical installation work, three of them were students of Yaroslavl Automotive College, who in their educational activities had already interacted with Yarenergo: they passed industrial practice or worked in the summer students’ construction crew of the branch. In the future they plan to link their lives with energy and see Yarenergo as one of their priority employment opportunities.

"Participation in the WorldSkills Championship strengthens our capabilities in training highly qualified personnel for modern energy. Today the work of power grid specialists combines rich professional traditions and knowledge of advanced modern technologies. It is important to talk about this to the younger generation. It is essential to demonstrate the full range of the industry’s professional competencies," considers First Deputy Director and Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division Ruslan Trubin.

Please, be reminded that IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division has been implementing a comprehensive model of staff training, one of the most important components of which is working with young people. The main partners of Yarenergo in the field of vocational training are Ivanovo State Power Engineering University, Kostroma Power Engineering College, Yaroslavl State Agricultural Academy, where the joint specialized department "Electrical Distribution Grids" functions, staffed by employees of Yarenergo and Yaroslavl Automotive College. Students of these educational institutions annually have practice in structural subdivisions of the branch, where, under the guidance of experienced mentors, they make the first practical steps in the electric power industry. They take part in a students’ construction crew, which the branch has been organizing for four years already.

"Energy is a potentially dangerous industry that places special demands on the education, training and responsibility of employees. The reliability of power supply to consumers and the development of the electric power industry as a whole depend on qualifications of our personnel. Therefore, the personnel policy of the branch of Yarenergo is working with young people and recruiting qualified personnel starting from early courses of educational institutions with which we cooperate. And it is very good that there is such a platform as the championship of working professions where young people can show their level of knowledge, skills and competencies, present themselves to future employers," said the head of the HR department of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division Lyudmila Rozhdestvenskaya.

According to Lyudmila Rozhdestvenskaya, the students, who participate in the movement, demonstrate their serious attitude towards the chosen specialty, the desire to improve and modernize their professional level. Such specialists are given an advantage when working at Yarenergo.

"Skills that the young people work out at this championship, they can come in handy for them, for example, when installing heated floors, light sensors, when constructing the so-called "smart home" and also for carrying out all household operations: wiring, lighting systems installation and commissioning. These skills are unequivocally higher than those contained in the federal educational standard for graduates of educational institutions," said Deputy Director for Academic Work at Yaroslavl Automotive College, organizer of the site for the competence "electrical installation work" Alexander Elkin.
