In January six representatives of IDGC of Centre – Kostromaenergo division at once were awarded medals "XXV years of EMERCOM of Russia" of the Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters of the Russian Federation. Director of Kostromaenergo Evgeny Smirnov, heads of Mezhevsky, Buyskiy, Ostrovsky and Pyschugsky Distribution Zones Sergey Luginin, Sergey Pashkov, Sergey Chistyakov and Sergey Lebedev were given departmental awards for effective interaction with the staff of EMERCOM in the Kostroma region in the period of technological failures. The head of the public relations office of the branch Tatiana Drozdova was awarded a medal for organization of information work for prevention of children’s electric injuries.
The Kostroma branch of IDGC of Centre ensures effective functioning of the regional energy system in terms of civil defense and emergency situations. The company is engaged in the organization and conduct of work on liquidation of emergency situations of natural and man-made character at power supply facilities, workers’ training with methods and actions in emergency situations.
Kostromaenergo does much work in this direction in collaboration with General Directorate of EMERCOM in the Kostroma region. Power engineers and employees of the Ministry organize joint exercises to simulate the interaction in liquidation of emergency situations involving the threat of a power failure at low ambient temperatures; fire training; practice of the crisis management centre on actions of management bodies, forces and means to protect the population and territories from emergency situations caused by failures at utility facilities, floods, wildfires.
Much is also being done by the power company in terms of prevention of electric injuries, including among children and adolescents. In particular, in 2016 Kostromaenergo’s specialists conducted over 200 lessons on electrical safety in schools. Together with the regional office of EMERCOM of Russia, the All-Russian voluntary fire society, the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels, the traffic police they organized 16 route games for children and adolescents in schoolyards and suburban children’s camps. This work will continue in the future.
