Power engineers of IDGC of Centre restored the 35 kV power line in Konakovsky district of the Tver region

18 November 2016

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre put into operation a new section of the overhead line (Conductor) 35 kV "ZMI – Ploski-2", the most affected by the passage of a cyclone in Konakovsky district of the Tver region. At the moment the line is energized, electric grid facilities of the municipality are operating without technological failures.

Construction of the power line section went rapidly. In order to restore the stable power supply mode as quickly as possible in the municipality the power engineers of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre developed a non-typical design solution. To implement it in a thick wooded area, in marshland half a kilometre road-flooring was laid on which special vehicles were able to deliver equipment and people to the construction site and heavy lifting devices could lift and install the structure. All work was carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry of the Tver region and the regional office of EMERCOM of Russia.

It should be noted that the solution proposed the power engineers is temporary. It was prompt and urgent. Now, when the situation has stabilized, the electric grid company’s experts are preparing to carry out a thorough reconstruction of the affected section of the power line. At present, they have been ordered poles and are preparing project documentation.

Please, be reminded that the 35 kV overhead power line "ZMI – Ploski-2" had a fallen pole. The steel structure did not sustain pressure of wires, which got heavier with heavy precipitation and ice. Meanwhile, the overhead power line section, which the electric pole fell on, being a strategically important for Konakovsky district, is owned by a private organization. Despite the importance of the electric grid property served, the company did not carry out work on repair of power equipment and clearing the ROWs. Realizing that the end customer should not become hostage to a dispute between economic entities, IDGC of Centre fully took all costs for the restoration of the power line section.
