Belgorod branch of IDGC of Centre implements new energy equipment

5 September 2016

IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division increases the proportion of innovative and energy-efficient equipment of domestic production in the process of reconstruction and construction of power facilities. Doing it some part of the implemented equipment is the result of own research and development activities (R&D) of IDGC of Centre. This is the company’s patented steel multisided poles of 0.4 kV and pole-mounted transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV.

The first batch of 105 steel multisided poles is set in residential neighbourhoods of Belgorodsky, Stary Oskolsky, Gubkinsky and Graivoronsky districts, where there is construction of new power grid infrastructure to connect sites of private developers, and also during overall modernization of obsolete grids in settlements of the region. For example, 44 poles were installed all at once in Gubkin during the reconstruction of power lines in the neighbourhood of Lebedi.

Experts note that steel multisided poles are a technically and economically feasible alternative to anchor reinforced concrete and wooden poles of 0.4 kV based on steel multisided racks, in comparison with which they are much more reliable and durable, as it is not susceptible to fracture and practically do not need repair. For example, if the service life of reinforced concrete poles is 36, wooden - 25, steel - about 50 years.

Design features of steel multisided poles can significantly increase the speed of installation, reduce logistics costs and expenses for construction and connection to the grid. In micro-districts with a dense residential area the compact, fire and vandal resistant features of the new poles are in particular demand.

The choice in favour of modern innovative solutions begins at the stage of technical specifications for design of investment projects and is due to topology of power supply grids. For example, to connect to networks of farms, shops and other small business facilities with capacity of up to 40 kW this year in a number of areas 76 pole-mounted transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV with 25, 32 and 40 kVA transformers will be installed, most of them - in Belgorodsky, Shebekinsky, Korochansky, Graivoronsky and Stary Oskolsky.

Compared with other pole-mounted transformer substations, presented today at the market of electrical equipment, the pole-mounted transformer substations developed by IDGC of Centre have a simple and reliable design that allows for their installation on the pole without specialized lifting equipment. The use of these substations to connect individual low power facilities provides for a real reduction of costs and timing of grid connection even in remote settlements of the region. Besides, pole-mounted transformer substations increase reliability and reduce the length of low-voltage lines, thereby reducing power transmission losses.

Application of domestic innovative equipment is carried out within the approved Program of Innovative Development of IDGC of Centre. In the registry of taken in the company innovative and energy-efficient technical solutions there are about 30 products, scheduled for implementation while realizing new projects on construction and reconstruction of grids.
