On the site of the Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov there was a contest of students’ construction crews of IDGC of Centre to solve energy case. The event was held within the framework of the International Engineering Championship "Case-in", aimed at popularization of workers and engineering professions, and became an excellent tool to identify construction teams with the strongest level of technical training. The young people will be able to secure the theoretical knowledge in practice can in the summer during the term of employment at the company’s facilities.
On the eve of the competition all the teams had to offer and justify the most effective circuit of power supply of a small remote from centralized power supply settlement of the Trans-Baikal region in view of planned increase in power consumption with construction of a new wood processing enterprise.
The students solved the task in various ways, including using clean energy sources. Many options differed with their being cost-effective and original, and others - were based on the reliability and use of time proved technologies. The young people made the research results in the form of presentations. No more than 6 minutes were given to defend cases.
Summing up the day, the chairman of the judging commission, composed along with representatives of IDGC of Centre of leading professors of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Operation Anton Gerasimov drew attention to the invaluable experience gained by the young people: "The current contest has become an excellent test for all knowledge, a step for further development and future success. Of course, we have paid attention to the most talented and promising young people."
Chief Specialist of HR Department of IDGC of Centre Denis Chernykh noted the overall high level of training at the higher educational institution: "The theory - it is the cornerstone, but we cannot lose sight of the competence of the practical application of the theoretical and scientific knowledge, as it is the applied character of education helps make future professionals and leaders. I did not expect it that way. Enthusiasm, creativity - yes. But such deep knowledge, confidence in the defense of solutions - I did not think to view. Well done!"
As a result, the best engineering solution was the solution of the team "69 volts" of the Tver State Technical University. The second place went to the 3rd year students of the Department of Electricity and Automation of Energy Institute of the BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, the third was the young people from the Lipetsk State Technical University.
