10 June in Lipetsk the VI Summer Games of Power Engineers of IDGC of Centre were solemnly opened, which brought together more than 500 participants from eleven regions of Central Russia.
Deputy General Director for Human Resources Management and Organizational Design Inna Gromova congratulated the participants on the beginning of the sports festival. She stressed the importance of the event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and its special significance for many thousands of employees of the energy sector, as well as the contribution of the Games to the development of mass culture and sports.
"This is a landmark event, which emphasizes the unity of the employees of our company. I am sure that such joint efforts, not only in the professional sphere, but also in the corporate culture will ensure the future success and general high production achievements. We will keep this wonderful tradition of the annual sports festival," she underlined.
Chairman of the Council of representatives of primary trade union organizations of IDGC of Centre Victor Ablezgov expressed about symbolism of the Games, dedicated to the significant date: "Today, many of you have a St. George Ribbon on the chest. I am sure that it will give you extra strength to win, to be worthy of the memory of those who 70 years ago won for us this peaceful life."
Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lipetsk region, an official representative of the Olympic Committee of the Central Federal District Vladimir Dementiev, Head of the Department of mobilization training of the administration of the city of Lipetsk, the Hero of Russia Oleg Starozhuk came to support the participants in the Games.
Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division director Alexander Konanykhin greeted the athletes - power engineers: "I warmly welcome in the Lipetsk region all the participants and guests of the Games. We are honoured to accept this large-scale event, symbolizing the beauty and the power of sport, at the Lipetsk land. We have done our best to provide a decent level of competition, the overall positive attitude. I congratulate you on the beginning of a bright, interesting sporting event. Let sport be for you a source of constant energy, joy, confidence in yourselves and your abilities. Have bright victories and personal achievement! Let the strongest in an honest and uncompromising struggle, based on the strong traditions, be revealed!"
Natalia Boikova, the captain of Belgorodenergo’s team, the winner of the V Summer Games 2014, raised the competition flag. Notable moments of the first day of the competition were a show of young athletes - hand to hand fighters of the Palace of Sports "Dynamo", as well as special forces "SWAT" and dog handlers with dogs.
Immediately after the opening ceremony the tournament in table tennis, shooting, volleyball, athletics, weight lifting and swimming was held.
In the evening for participants of the Games a spectacular air show will be hosted with a tour of military equipment, which will end with an improvised soldiers’ dinner with a field kitchen.
Please, be reminded that the corporate Games of power engineers have been held since 2000 and has already become a good sports tradition of IDGC of Centre.
