IDGC of Centre is implementing a number of social projects dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory

15 April 2015

IDGC of Centre continues preparations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The company is implementing a number of projects dedicated to this memorable date. Most of them are in the stage of completion.

In early April, IDGC of Centre embarked on a historical-social project "The Story of a feat", whose purpose is to tell as many people in Russia as possible about fellow countrymen, fought in the war at the front and in the rear, their unknown exploits, and to help families and close relatives of heroes perpetuate their memory. The company created sites http://istoriyapodviga.ru and историяподвига.рф, where everyone can publish military stories of his or her family, relatives, friends, acquaintances, attaching photos to them, scanned copies of awards and other historical documents. To date on these resources, as well as in the branches of IDGC of Centre, hundreds of such stories have been collected. In addition, within the project in all regions of the Central Federal District, where IDGC of Centre operates, on the eve of the Victory Day "Avenues of Remembrance" will be planted and names of heroes, whose names have been learned thanks to "The Story of a feat", will be immortalized.

On the eve of May 9 IDGC of Centre provides in the regions of its service area electricity supply to constructed and reconstructed memorials and monuments for the Victory Day. In places where there was fighting, experts of the branches are engaged in improvement and remediation of graves of Soviet soldiers. And on the eve of the holiday the power engineers will congratulate veterans at home.

And branches of IDGC of Centre are implementing their own projects to mark the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. Orelenergo’s employees prepared a book-brochure "Star of Nikolay Sirotinin", dedicated to the outstanding feat of their countryman. In July 1941, 20-year-old artillery staff sergeant Sirotinin alone for several hours restrained a column of the enemy armoured tank division under Guderian at the Belarusian city of Kricev, having killed, according to several sources, 11 tanks, 7 armoured vehicles and 57 Nazis. For this feat, he was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of Level I. At the initiative of the power engineers, in Orel on the house where the hero lived, a memorial plaque was installed. In addition, representatives of Orelenergo became one of initiators of opening in the memory of Nikolay Sirotinin in the centre of Orel the Square of Gunners. According to the plans, the Square will be opened on August 5, the day of liberation of the city.

Belgorodenergo is completing work on the book "Energy - the Great Victory", which tells about the work of the energy sector of Central Russian during the war years, power engineers-soldiers, who defended the country against the invaders and restore the industry in the postwar years. Particular attention will be given in the book to the Battle of Kursk, which lasted for 50 days in four regions of Central Russia and three regions of Ukraine, and in many ways determined the outcome of the Great Patriotic War. Publication of the book is scheduled for mid-July, to the anniversary of the Tank Battle of Prokhorovka, which became the culmination of the Kursk defensive operation.

The Kostroma branch of IDGC of Centre created the Annals of Military Glory. Within the project, which is called "70 Pages of Military Glory to the 70th anniversary of the Victory", the branch collects information about relatives its employees, who fought - stories, photos, and documents. They will form the basis of the exhibition, which will be solemnly unveiled in late April at the Museum of the Kostroma energy system history.

Tverenergo is holding a photo contest "Connection of Generations", which involves genre family photos, which depict the branch’s employees and their families with their relatives - war veterans and home front workers. The competition is held to demonstrate the inextricable link of generations of winners and their descendants, continuity in fostering a sense of patriotism and pride in the history of our country, preserving the memory of the great feat of people in the Great Patriotic War. Its results will be announced in the coming weeks. And in late April, Tverenergo’s employees will hold a motor rally "Marathon of Memory", visit memorable places of the Tver region, associated with the war - mass graves, monuments and memorials in cities of Bezhetsk, Rzhev, Torzhok, Vishny Volochek, Kimry, Beliy.
