Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre are ready to operate through bad weather

According to weather forecasters in the Smolensk region strengthening south wind with gusts up to 12-17 m/s is expected, and in the evening gusts may increase to 17-22 m/s. Due to unfavourable weather conditions in the territory of the Smolensk region IDGC of Centre’s power engineers are taking a number of measures that will prevent negative effects of a natural disaster. In the event of emergency situations at power grid facilities IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division will take all measures to eliminate them as soon as possible. From 9-30 a.m. 16 March, 2015 IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division was put on high alert.

The branch is continuously collecting actual meteorological data in the vicinity of large power facilities, organized more frequent control of operation of equipment of substations, operating personnel readiness was ensured to conduct first responding and restoration operations. With major technological violations of electricity supply to consumers up to 196 crews (1,041 people) and 306 vehicles of the Smolensk branch of IDGC of Centre are ready to start first responding and restoration work. Smolenskenergo’s power engineers also double checked and prepared to work redundant power supply sources.

Special control over the work of power facilities was established, fire safety measures were enhanced, interaction with the territorial divisions of EMERCOM and executive authorities, MES of Centre of JSC "FGC UES" and other regional power grid organizations was organized.

Small power outages have already affected the region, but the socio-important facilities are operating normally. Power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division are conducting first responding and restoration work continuously.
