Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region continue to implement programs for the removal of energy facilities from premises of children’s institutions

16 March 2020

Specialists of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region carry out systematic work to remove overhead power lines from premises of children’s institutions in the regions of their activity (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation). At the end of 2019, such events were carried out in 114 schools, pre-school institutions, technical schools, orphanages, playgrounds and sports grounds, health camps. Over 41 million rubles were allocated for these purposes.

In the course of the implementation of the Injury Risk Reduction Programs at energy facilities of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, power engineers transfer overhead power lines passing close to educational institutions, sports facilities and playgrounds outside their territories, re-arrange sections of overhead lines into cable lines in a trench. In areas where there is no possibility of removal, they replace the wire with more modern and safe - self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). In total, in 2019, the power engineers transferred 124 overhead power lines and five transformer substations outside the territory of schools and kindergartens. The total length of the reconstructed sections of overhead lines was more than 28 kilometres.

The implementation of the programs to transfer energy facilities from the premises of children’s institutions is part of the system work of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region on the prevention of children’s electrical injuries. During the school holidays the power engineers, in addition to the work required by the standards, perform additional checks of locking devices of substations, install prohibition signs and information posters about the danger of electric shock. In addition, employees of the energy companies conduct active outreach on the prevention of electrical injuries with the population, primarily with children and adolescents, fishermen and owners of private households.

In 2020, work in this direction will be continued. By the end of the year, the power engineers plan to carry out work on the removal of energy facilities from the premises of 130 children’s institutions.
