The heads of the IDGC/RGC veteran organizations have participated in the ceremonial launch of the “Victory Banner Relay Race” historical and memorial campaign organized on the initiative of IDGC Holding at the Central Museum of Armed Forces, in Moscow. Established by the companies of IDGC Holding in 69 constituent entities of the Russian Federation in May—June 2010, this patriotic tradition was continued.
The Relay Race opening ceremony was attended by the heads of the Veteran Councils of about 70 subsidiaries and 13 affiliated electricity distribution grid companies of IDGC Holding that ensure electricity distribution and transmission in 69 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, youth leaders of IDGC Holding, and World War II veterans who had participated in the Storming of the Reichstag in Berlin.
IDGC Holding Director General Nikolay Shvets said, “It is for the second consecutive year that IDGC Holding holds the Victory Banner Relay Race, which is an important historical and memorial event not only for the Russian electricity industry—it has become a notable patriotic event in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.”
In 2010, the Victory Symbol was installed in the office of the management company, IDGC Holding. Victory Banner copies were delivered by the heads of the IDGC/RGC Veteran Councils to all branches of the operating subsidiaries. After the participation in the festive events held by different labor, military, and student teams, the sacred relic was installed for eternal storage in the corporate museums and labor glory rooms of the electricity distribution grid companies. After the second stage of the Relay Race, the copies of the Victory Banner will arrive for permanent storage to the museums of subsidiaries of IDGC Holding’s electricity distribution grid companies.
In 2012, it is planned to considerably expand the geography of the Victory Banner Relay Race—the sacred relic will be delivered to all of the electric grid districts, which correspond to almost 1700 administrative districts of the Russian Federation.
