Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region liquidate consequences of the hurricane in the regions of the Central and Volga Federal Districts

15 May 2021

Power engineers are restoring energy supply to residents of regions that have suffered from a thunderstorm with hurricane winds up to 23 metres per second and hail. In a number of districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the disaster was accompanied by tornado phenomena. Abnormal weather conditions provoked breaks and wires cross-whipping, falling out of trees from outside security zones on power lines.

Employees of the power grid companies were mobilized in advance and were ready for the disaster. In 6 regions of the service area of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region there is a high alert mode, in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kostroma regions — a special mode of operation.

173 crews of 552 people and 238 vehicles were involved in the emergency recovery work.

By 06-00 am on 16 May, the main work will be completed to eliminate technological disruptions in the power grids. Employees of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region will work around the clock until the power supply to residents of the affected regions is fully restored.
