First Deputy Director General - Chief Engineer of Rosseti Andrey Mayorov held a meeting of headquarters in the Tver region to eliminate consequences of a cyclone

5 January 2021

The meeting was attended by Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, and heads of the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre.

The task was set to complete the restoration of the main grid by midnight, on Wednesday morning - work on individual requests in 0.4 kV grids. If necessary, including in remote settlements, mobile backup power supply sources will be used.

On 4 January, a snow cyclone hit the territory of the Tver region, which was accompanied by a temperature drop from minus to plus values. Heavy icing and sticky snow place extreme stress on power lines.

The power engineers prepared in advance for the disaster: from 2 January, the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre was operating on high alert, on 4 January a special operating mode was introduced.

Andrey Mayorov noted that such mobilization made it possible to promptly respond to technological violations and begin to eliminate them. The implementation of Rosseti Centre’s program for renewing the fleet of crew and off-road vehicles also contributed to the effective work on the restoration of grids.

199 crews, 800 people and 262 vehicles, including forces and means from neighbouring regions, were involved in emergency recovery work.

After the completion of the restoration work, the state of the grids, which showed the greatest vulnerability to the bad weather, will be analyzed, and a program of measures for their reconstruction will be developed.
