In the year of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Airborne Forces, Rosseti opened in Ryazan a power transmission pole, stylized as the symbols of the Airborne Forces

28 December 2020

The opening ceremony was attended by Pavel Livinskiy, Director General of Rosseti, NikolayLyubimov, Governor of the Ryazan Region, Alexey Ragozin, Head of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School, and Igor Makovskiy, Head of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

The new pole, replacing the two traditional ones, is part of the existing 110 kV transmission line and is made in the form of a giant open parachute and two planes on the sides. In the upper part there is an inscription: “Ryazan is the capital of the Airborne Forces”. The height is 32 metres, width - 35 metres, weight - over 80 tons. The facility is located on a landscaped area of 1.5 hectares, where information stands about the history of the airborne troops are also installed.

“This is the largest emblem of the Airborne Forces in the world and the first such art object in the region in many decades. I am sure that it will become one of the symbols of Ryazan, which we will be proud to show guests of the region. The project was implemented thanks to the high level of cooperation and the initiative of the Rosseti company,” stressed Nikolay Lyubimov.
“Ryazan is a beautiful city with a unique and rich history, also known as a forge of personnel for the airborne troops - a symbol of military valour and honour. This facility is a token of gratitude to the Airborne Forces for their contribution to protecting the country’s interests. We hope that the stylized pole will attract the attention of city residents and tourists and become a noticeable landmark,” said Pavel Livinsky.
“We have already implemented five similar projects, and also opened the Shukhov tower on the Oka after reconstruction. The stylized poles are a kind of quality mark. We install them where new digital facilities have been commissioned. The stylized poles evoke the most positive emotions in people, form a new image of our company and the energy sector as a whole,” noted Igor Makovskiy.

The construction is intended to emphasize the contribution of the Airborne Forces to strengthening the defense capability and security of Russia, as well as the historical significance of Ryazan and the higher command school located there for the formation of this type of troops.

“On the land of the paratroopers, in the capital of the Airborne Forces, a symbol of the airborne troops has appeared, a symbol that will be the only one in the world of such a scale, made with such love. Thank you very much! We hope for our further cooperation,” Alexey Ragozin thanked on behalf of the officers of the school and veterans of the airborne troops.

The pole is located at the entrance to Ryazan on the Moscow highway, near houses 14 and 16.
