Igor Makovskiy: Kaluga’s main Christmas tree with original light illumination is our festive gift to the New Year’s capital of Russia - 2021

9 December 2020

In the Central Park of Culture and Leisure of Kaluga, the second stage of decorating a new fir tree has begun, which will become a New Year’s gift to the city from Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

The 22-meter green beauty has already gained fame as the most fashionable and unusual Christmas tree in Kaluga. The townspeople were able to take a closer look at its New Year’s decorations on the weekend: the new fir tree lit its lights for visitors to the park.

It’s time for the next stage of transformation. The final chord should be a star dome that will cover the tree. Specialists have already begun to fix LED string lights on the crown of the head in the form of a Kremlin star - a total of 240 glowing threads that form a tent.

The festive tree will receive its first guests on Sunday, 13 December. It will be presented to the residents of Kaluga at 3 p.m., after the residence of Father Frost is opened. But the gifts from the power engineers will not end there.

“Kaluga is the New Year’s capital of Russia - 2021. And the capital should have everything special, the best, and unique. The 22-meter symbol of the holiday is the New Year’s tree, “dressed” in a luminous star tent - our gift to the city, townspeople and its guests. We hope that it will charge them with a festive mood, give them hope for the fulfillment of their most cherished, innermost desires. Many surprises await residents of our other regions. Every year we try to surprise and delight them, turning seemingly ordinary buildings, grid facilities, locations into a real New Year’s fairy tale, we create an atmosphere of joy, warmth, comfort, fill people with positive emotions,” stressed General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.

This is not the only New Year’s gift for Kaluga. At present, Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rossetti Centre and Volga Region, together with the City Administration, is implementing a project to transform the lighting of one of the main symbols of the cradle of cosmonautics - the Monument to the 600th anniversary of Kaluga on Gagarin Street. The idea to breathe new life into the Kaluga “globe” was born when Kaluga was declared the New Year’s capital of Russia. The power engineers also installed decorative lighting on the Gagarinsky bridge across the Oka. And on the eve of the new 2020, they put into operation a 41-meter stylized pole in the form of a symbol of the city - a rocket, which became a local landmark, popular with residents of Kaluga and guests of the regional centre.
