Igor Makovskiy congratulated the Great Patriotic War veteran-power engineer Ivan Kireev on his 95th birthday

⁠A veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a veteran of the Orel energy system Ivan A. Kireev celebrated his 95th birthday on 25 October. On behalf of General Director of Rosseti Centre, the hero of the day was visited by Acting Deputy General Director - Director of the branch “Rosseti Centre Orelenergo” Sergey Aleshin and the former director of Orelenergo (currently director of the branch of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region - Tulenergo) Yury Volchenkov. Igor Makovskiy congratulated the veteran via video link.

“Dear Ivan, please accept my warmest, most sincere congratulations on your birthday! I wish you health, vitality, good mood! So that everyone who surrounds you bring and give only joy! We value you very much, care for you very much, love you and wish you all the best!” General Director of Rosseti Centre addressed to Ivan Kireev.

On 19 September, Ivan Kireev became an honorary guest of the grand opening of the memorial complex to the heroes - power engineers in Tula. The name of the veteran is imprinted on the memorial stelae with the names of another 52 heroes of power engineering.

Ivan A. Kireev is a native of the village of Gantyurevo in the Mtsensky district of the Orel region. As a young man, Ivan Kireev went to the front, where he bravely defended the Fatherland - he participated in battles on the Orel-Kursk Bulge, the liberation of Ukraine and Poland. He was wounded several times, he met the Great Victory already in the hospital. For his exceptional courage and bravery shown in the battles, Ivan Kireev was awarded the Orders of the Patriotic War of degrees I and II, medals “For Courage”, “For Victory over Germany” and “For Military Merit”.

Ivan Kireev devoted a significant part of his life to work in the electric power industry: in 1952 he took part in the construction of a hydroelectric power station near the village of Lykovo in the Mtsensky district of the Orel region, after which he worked at this hydroelectric power station as an electrician, then as a power plant attendant. After its closure, until 1987, he worked as a line electrician in the Mtsensky Distribution Zone. For his labour exploits, Ivan Kireev was awarded the title of “Veteran of Labour” and entered into the Book of Honour of the Mtsensky Distribution Zone.
