Professionalism, courage, dedication: the power engineers of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region eliminated the effects of two natural disasters in the electric grid complex of the regions of the Central Federal District during the day

13 March 2020

The specialists of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region have fully completed work to restore power supply in the regions of the Central Federal District affected by the bad weather. Twice during the past day, a gale of wind fell on the territory of Central Russia, leading to blackouts. However, thanks to the professionalism, resilience and courage of the power engineers, the consequences of the disaster were eliminated as soon as possible for such situations.

The most severe blow was taken by the Tver region. A powerful atmospheric front came here on the night of 13 March and brought a strong gale. The Rzhevsky, Kalininsky and Kimrsky Distribution Zones turned out to be at the epicentre of the bad weather, but the power engineers were ready to repel its blow. Even the day before, by decision of the head of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy, a reinforced group was transferred from other branches of the companies. At the peak of their work, 141 crews were involved. Attracted forces and means, clear and coordinated actions of the specialists from different regions significantly reduced the response time to incoming applications from consumers and the implementation of restoration work. By 9:00 pm, all consumers of the Tver region were powered.

The best professional qualities, endurance and dedication were shown by the specialists of the Kalugaenergo and Ryazanenergo branches, who quickly eliminated two natural disasters, as well as the specialists of Tulaenergo, Smolenskenergo, Bryanskenergo and other branches who made every effort to ensure that residents of their regions spend the weekend with lights in their homes.

Currently, all consumers of the regions affected by the bad weather have been powered. The power engineers work out one-time consumers’ applications for local outages in low-voltage grids. The situation continues to be under the personal control of Director General of Rosseti Pavel Livinskiy and the Headquarters of Rosseti Centre.

“We have made changes to our emergency response strategy, setting ourselves the task of being proactive. Today has shown that we are succeeding. Timely preparatory and proactive measures taken, an instant response to technological violations and changes in the operating environment allowed us to immediately take control of the situation. Our experts have proven themselves as one powerful and strong team. They accomplished a real feat, in the shortest time possible for such situations, having coped with the consequences of two blows of the hurricane and having quickly restored power supply to consumers. We are proud of them,” emphasized General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.
