Power engineers of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region quickly restore energy supply to consumers, interrupted by strong winds

13 March 2020

The heavy wind that hit the territory of the Central Federal District on the night of 13 March caused a power outage in several regions of the service area of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

Power engineers reacted immediately. As early as the morning of 12 March, by the decision of the Headquarters of Rosseti Centre in the regions where adverse weather conditions were predicted, a high alert mode was introduced. Special control over the operation of energy facilities was established. Operating and repair personnel was mobilized. Socially significant facilities of the regions were taken under special control.

Forces and means were regrouped. So, according to the decision of General Director of the energy company Igor Makovskiy, taking into account the most unfavourable forecast for the Tver region, an reinforced group of 121 crews, about 800 people and more than 250 vehicles sent from other branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, was transferred here. When the weather conditions actually worsened, the branches immediately switched to a special mode of operation and, at the very first reports of technological violations, immediately sent forces and means to eliminate them.

Disaster recovery operations are currently underway in several regions. In the Tver region, the Rzhevsky, Kalininsky and Kimrsky Distribution Zones turned out to be at the epicentre of the bad weather, now the consequences of the storm wind are being eliminated by 23 crews of the branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo”, as well as 11 crews of the Voronezh, Kaluga and Ryazan branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region. In total, 72 crews consisting of about 200 specialists and 77 specialized vehicles are currently working on eliminating damage in the region.

In the Kaluga region, the power engineers promptly eliminate local outages in 6-10 kV distribution grids recorded in a number of settlements in the Maloyaroslavetsy, Spas-Demensky, Ferzikovsky and Dzerzhinsky districts, as well as in the suburbs of the regional centre. Work is underway to work under applications received from consumers over the 0.4 kV grid. Currently, 25 crews, consisting of 74 people, 27 vehicles, are involved in the emergency recovery operations.

In the Tula region, work is underway to restore partially limited power supply to a number of consumers on 6-10 kV power lines of the Zaoksky, Bogoroditsky, Dubensky, Aleksinsky, Schekinsky, Kimovsky, Yasnogorsky, Volovsky districts. It will be completed soon.

In the Ryazan region, blackouts in 0.4-10 kV distribution grids were detected in certain districts, primarily in the Mikhailovsky and Rybnovsky ones. In total, 15 crews of 42 people and 16 vehicles are currently involved in the restoration of electricity supply.

Work in all regions will be carried out continuously, until the complete restoration of electricity supply.

According to the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Centre, a difficult meteorological situation will remain until the end of the day. Very warm weather will be replaced by cooling, in the Central Federal District it will rain, in the north in places with wet snow. A particularly difficult situation will be observed in the Tver region. The power engineers of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, continue to be in their utmost readiness. The headquarters of the electric grid complex coordinates the progress of emergency recovery work and constantly monitors the meteorological and operational situation of the regions.

If necessary, 2,988 crews consisting of 12,935 people, 4,455 automotive and specialized vehicles, as well as resources of contractors, can be involved in eliminating technological violations in all branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region. Also, at their disposal there are backup power supply sources, which can be used to temporarily supply power, primarily to socially significant facilities in the regions.
