Governor of the Kirov region Igor Vasiliev took part in the ceremony of launching the most modern substation in the Kirov region

11 February 2020

The head of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, Igor Makovskiy, during a working visit to Kirov, together with Governor of the Kirov region Igor Vasiliev, took part in the ceremony of putting into operation the new substation 110/35/10 “Urvantsevo”.

At the site of the new feeding centre, Igor Makovskiy and Igor Vasiliev were informed that the facility was built for two years, all installed equipment was Russian-made with elements of digital technology.

Before the ceremony, the guests of the event were shown the equipment of the substation: a transformer with a capacity of 40 MVA, modular outdoor switchgear of 110 kV, indoor switchgear of 10 kV, combined with a substation control building. The new power centre is equipped with digital communication channels and modern information systems that allow real-time monitoring of the condition of the facility, analyze the parameters of electric power quality, and manage production personnel. Video surveillance was set up with the output of the image to the workplace of the Kirovenergo’s dispatchers. To date, the substation 110/35/10 “Urvantsevo” can rightfully be called the most “digitalized” substation in the Kirov region.

It is significant that the commissioning of the new power centre was carried out in a modern “digital” format - in the format of video conferencing with the Grid Control Centre of “Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Kirovenergo”. The voltage supply to the substation was made live by the dispatcher of the Grid Control Centre with the personal instruction of Igor Makovskiy.

The new substation is important for the development of the regional centre. Through the 110 kV switchgear, electric energy is transited by Kirov TPP-4 - substation 220 kV “Kirov”. The substation “Urvantsevo” provides power supply to the western part of Kirov (micro-districts “Metrograd” and “Urvantsevo”), as well as the suburban area (the settlements of Doronichi and Sadakovsky). The commissioned capacity allows the city to develop in these directions. In addition, the “Urvantsevo” substation takes over part of the load from the 110 kV “Communal” substation, thereby providing a more reliable power supply circuit for the regional centre.

After visiting the “Urvantsevo” substation, the head of the region, in an interview with reporters, noted: “We live in a time of new technologies that require modern technological solutions. And today we have witnessed the presence on the Kirov land of digital technologies in the electric power industry. In the shortest possible time, a modern power facility was built in Kirov, which allows residents of the city to be sure that the electricity supply in the regional centre will be reliable, uninterrupted and of high quality. Kirov gets the opportunity to develop in the western direction, build new social facilities.”

The construction of the substation was carried out under the control of the Government of the Kirov region and in accordance with the Regional Electricity Development Program, approved by the Decree of the Governor. “Effective interaction with the heads of regions allows us to successfully implement large-scale projects, increasing the reliability of electricity supply and taking the electric power industry to a new level of development. The substation “Urvantsevo” in the Kirov region is a vivid example of the fruitful interaction of power engineers and authorities. I am sure that the facility commissioned today will be another significant step towards providing a qualitatively new level of power supply to consumers in the Kirov region,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, the head of the energy company.

During the event, an exhibition of specialized vehicles used by power engineers during emergency recovery work was organized for guests. In particular, the capabilities of the headquarters car were shown, video conferencing with the headquarters of Kirovenergo was conducted, and the possibilities of video surveillance of the work of dispatching points of Distribution Zones were demonstrated.
