The Rosseti Centre company provided power to one of the largest memorial complexes dedicated to the Great Patriotic War

22 October 2019

Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region completed a set of measures for grid connection of the memorial complex to the Soviet soldier in Rzhevsky district. Specialists from the Tver branch of the company performed a large amount of work, which involved, in particular, the design and construction of a 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation and a 10 kV cable-overhead line, as well as the installation of a 0.4 kV cable line. The memorial will be supplied with electricity from the 110/35/10 kV “Rzhev” substation.

The construction project of the Rzhev Memorial is implemented by the Russian Military Historical Society with the support of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Tver Region. The idea of its creation was supported by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. It is planned that in terms of scale it will become one of the five largest memorial complexes of Russia dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

The central sculpture of the memorial will be the figure of a warrior: a 25-metre bronze monument on a steel frame will be installed on a 10-metre bulk mound near the village of Khoroshevo. Currently, preparations are underway for the installation of the monument. The creation of the architectural ensemble involves a large-scale infrastructure and a comprehensive project for the development of the adjacent territory. Especially for the memorial, an original backlight system was developed.

As expected, the opening of the memorial complex to the Soviet soldier in Rzhevsky district, scheduled for May 2020, will be the central event of the celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.

“Our company operates in regions where the outcome of the Great Patriotic War was largely determined, and in fact the future of all mankind. And this imposes a special responsibility. It is a great honour for us to be able to contribute to the perpetuation of the memory of all those who brought closer the day of the Great Victory. We hope that the new memorial complex in the Tver region will become a symbol of the greatness, courage, heroism and fortitude of our people, inspire future generations to live and work, to make labour feats and great discoveries for the good of our Motherland and for peace,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

*Since June 2019, all companies of the transmission and distribution grid complex in corporate and marketing communications, as well as on all corporate identity carriers have been using the new name containing the Rosseti trademark and regional or functional binding
