Igor Makovskiy: “Creating stylized grid facilities, we want to emphasize the unique architectural appearance of cities of Central Russia and the Volga region”

20 August 2019

Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region*, within the framework of the digital transformation concept, is implementing a comprehensive program to create and install electric grid infrastructure facilities in capitals of regions of its operations, in the outward appearance of which symbols of the history and regional identity of these territories will be embodied. The first such project was implemented in early August in Belgorod, where an original stylized 26-metre pole, made in the form of the coat of arms of the city, was put into operation. Currently, the company has completed work on similar stylized power grid facilities for Voronezh, Vladimir and Kaluga.

“We work in regions that have written many glorious pages in the history of Russia. They have done a lot for the establishment and strengthening of the power of our country and today continue to make a significant contribution to its development. One of the goals of our comprehensive program is to visually embody key symbols and the most important events in grid facilities, to emphasize the unique architectural appearance of cities of Central Russia and the Volga region. We are working on its implementation in close cooperation with representatives of the public, architects, urbanists,” stressed General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.

The project of a stylized pole for Voronezh is a lighthouse 46 metres high. Such a figurative solution was chosen because this particular region is the cradle of the Russian fleet. Under Peter I, the implementation of the Russian super project began here - the first Russian ships were built. The pole will be erected in the form of the original hyperboloid design by Vladimir Shukhov, the creator of the famous architectural monument - the television tower in Moscow, whose magnificent silhouette has long and deservedly become one of the capital’s attractions.

In Kaluga, the pole will be built in the form of a lattice structure symbolizing a rocket. This choice is logical. K.E. Tsiolkovsky lived in this city, creating his works, is the founder of theoretical cosmonautics. Thanks to him, Kaluga gained worldwide fame. They plan to open the Rocket pole for the 650th anniversary of the city, which will be celebrated on 28 August 2021.

In Vladimir, a stylized pole in the form of a legendary hero is planned to be installed on the M7 federal highway. The silhouette of the legendary hero will organically fit into the excursion route along the Golden Ring of Russia. Independent experts note one hundred percent hit the mark when choosing the option of the stylized pole for Vladimir. It is with this city that epics are associated, whose heroes always came to Prince Vladimir.

The projects for Vladimir and Voronezh have already been approved by the regional authorities.
