Igor Makovskiy: digital transformation provides qualitatively new effects from the modernization of the electric grid complex of 20 regions of Rosseti Centre and the Rosseti Centre and Volga Region

12 August 2019

Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region summed up the implementation of investment programs in the first half of the year. The companies commissioned 5,347 kilometres of power lines and 1,209 MVA of capacity. The volume of financing of the investment programs will amount to 11.836 billion rubles, of which 1.073 billion rubles are allocated for the implementation of projects of the concept of digital transformation.

For a number of large and significant projects in the first half of the year, the work was either completed or their bulk was done. On 5 August, in the Belgorod region, Rosseti Centre launched the 35 kV “Nikolskoye” substation at a faster pace, where the first in the regions of the company’s activities (11 subjects of the Central Federal District) digital substation project was implemented. On the basis of “Nikolskoye”, for just ten months, a digital distribution grid control centre was created, based on the software and hardware complex for automation and control protection, made using the latest digital technologies that meet international standards.

In the Vladimir region, the technical re-equipment of the 110 kV “Kolchugino” substation was completed. The result was an increase in the reliability of power supply to the plant “Electrocable”, the Kolchuginsky non-ferrous metal processing plant and 43 thousand inhabitants of the region. In March, the reconstruction of the 110 kV “Donskaya” line, supplying 5,000 consumers and a large poultry facility, was completed in the Lipetsk region. The work was carried out using innovative equipment.

“The concept of digital transformation provides qualitatively new effects from the modernization of the electric grid complex of 20 regions of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region for the foreseeable future. Its implementation will allow not only solving at a fundamentally different level the tasks associated with operational activities, reducing costs, increasing the efficiency of operational and technical management, but will also provide a significant increase in the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers,” stressed General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.

Two more pilot “Digital Substation” projects are being implemented at the “Airport” substation in the Udmurt Republic and “Sputnik” in the Voronezh region. Digital transformation activities will also be implemented at the “Kozino” substation in the Smolensk region. The reconstruction of “Kozino”, which began in late May, is provided for by the program and scheme for the development of the region’s electric power industry for 2019-2023.

In total, in 2019, the companies will commission 6.696 thousand kilometres of power lines and 1,162 MVA of capacity. The volume of financing of the investment programs will amount to 31.363 billion rubles. Including, 6.3 billion rubles will be allocated for the implementation of projects of the concept of digital transformation.
