IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region discussed the process of creating the Unified Grid Control Centres as part of the first stage of the digital transformation

21 May 2019

IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, under the leadership of General Director Igor Makovskiy, held a working meeting on the implementation of measures to create the Unified Grid Control Centres (UGCC) at the Company’s branches. It was attended by Deputies of General Director of the Company in all areas, including heads of branches, as well as representatives of the management of the contracting organization implementing this project.

In his opening speech, Igor Makovskiy outlined the main tasks of the workshop. In particular, he drew attention to the need to detail the project implementation schedule, as well as the use of typical and standardized approaches during the design.

As it was noted at the meeting, by the end of 2019, the UGCC will be built in seven regions of the Company’s operations. During this period, the Unified Grid Control Centres will be created in the branches of Belgorodenergo, Bryanskenergo, Voronezhenergo, Kostromaenergo, Kurskenergo and Tulaenergo. In addition, by the end of the year, four city dispatch points will be created under the same project: two in the Belgorod region, one each - in the Kostroma region and the Republic of Udmurtia. At the same time, the UGCC project will be implemented taking into account the individual characteristics of each branch.

Representatives of the contracting organization during the meeting elaborated on the goals, objectives, boundaries and approaches to the implementation of the UGCC. Among the proposed solutions is the formation of a working group of the project from among the company’s employees and the designer in the Centre and in the branches, the organization of strict centralized project management at all stages, the centralized development of the maximum possible number of unified basic design solutions with minimal revision in the branches.

“The UGCC project is very important for the company. We face the task in the shortest possible time to raise the operational and technological management to a qualitatively new level. We must try to make the project roadmap more intense. At least one, and maximum all districts in the pilot regions should be integrated into the Unified Grid Control Centre by the end of the year,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, summarizing the meeting.

Following the meeting, a number of organizational decisions were adopted, aimed at optimizing the timing of the UGCC project. For this, in particular, in the very near future a roadmap of the project will be created with weekly detailed timetables.

The UGCC project is one of the key ones within the framework of the concept of digital transformation of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region. It provides for the creation in the regions where the Company operates, instead of 603 dispatch points of 29 Unified Grid Control Centres. As part of the main UGCC, city dispatch points will be created in cities with a population of over one hundred thousand people - there will be nine in all. The UGCC will be equipped with digital communication channels and the most modern information systems, which will allow online monitoring of the state of power grid facilities, analyzing the parameters of power quality, coordinating the work of first responding mobile and repair crews. In addition, the project provides for integration with the “hot line” of power engineers.
