General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy met with Rector of Ivanovo State Power Engineering University Sergey Tararykin. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation between the company and the university.

The head of the university introduced the head of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region to the scientific base, laboratories and research centres of the educational institution. In particular, he told him about plans to create a “Digital Substation” training ground at ISPU, which would allow for research into options for setting digital substations, testing and debugging devices and innovative equipment, developing new technical solutions, and checking digital current and voltage transformers. “ISPU has all necessary capabilities and resources for training high-level specialists of the electric grid complex, as well as implementation of research projects in the field of digitalization,” stressed Sergey Tararykin.

Igor Makovskiy highly appreciated the prospects of this project, confirming the company’s interest in promising personnel and stressed the willingness to apply the university’s developments at grid facilities of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.

“Personnel training is a key factor in the successful implementation of the digital transformation strategy in the electric power industry,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, “It is important already at the training stage to acquaint students with digital technologies, intelligent devices and automatic processes in the context of rapidly changing information systems and communication channels. So, we will be able to educate a new generation of highly qualified specialists who will join the process of digitalization of power grids.”

Please, be reminded that since mid-2018, in cooperation with ISPU, a branch of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - Ivenergo, has already been working on trial operation of a 6 kV digital current and voltage transformer, which was developed at the university. Tests are conducted on the basis of the substation 110/35/6 kV “Ivanovskaya-2”.

Currently, the university has more than 5 thousand students. The university has 9 faculties, 39 departments, as well as 14 research and educational centres. The cooperation of Ivanovo State Power Engineering University with IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region has lasted for many years. Currently, over 1,300 university graduates work in the companies. Every year, production and pre-diploma internships for students of ISPU are organized at production sites of branches of the companies, students’ crews work, a vocational guidance program on admission to universities is carried out, teachers are trained, and the university’s training programs are updated.
