Voronezh region became a pilot project in the framework of digitalization of the electric grid complex of IDGC of Centre – Igor Makovskiy

26 December 2018

General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy, during his working visit, checked the functioning of the electric grid complex and production departments of the branch “Voronezhenergo”.

During the visit, the head of IDGC of Centre inspected the 110 kV substation “Central”, the largest in Voronezh, which provides power supply to administrative buildings, industrial facilities and multi-storey residential buildings in Central District of the city. During the reconstruction of this power centre in 2010, for the first time in the practice of IDGC of Centre, a project was implemented using gas insulated switchgear bays with 110 kV cable lines. The premises of cable power lines and chambers of power transformers of the substation “Central” are equipped with an automatic aerosol fire extinguishing system. The power facility is controlled remotely, without the presence of personnel at it. The modernization of the substation significantly improved the reliability, quality of power supply of the regional centre and created a reserve of capacity for connection of new customers.

Then Igor Makovskiy visited the Grid Control Centre (GCC) of Voronezhenergo, where he familiarized himself with the region’s power supply scheme, and also heard reports from dispatchers on the operation of the region’s power grid complex. The head of IDGC of Centre was presented the project of the Unified Grid Control Centre (UGCC) of Voronezhenergo, which allowed to significantly increase the efficiency of the operating staff.

In addition, the head of the company inspected Voronezhsky and Nizhnedevitsky Distribution Zones. He checked the working conditions of power engineers, provision with specialized vehicles, equipment and materials. At the end of the trip, General Director of IDGC of Centre held a working meeting with the management team of Voronezhenergo, during which he discussed the results of the branch’s work in the current year and outlined promising areas for the next period - improving the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers through the implementation of integrated automation and digitalization programs for the power grid complex of the Voronezh region.

“We have started the implementation of the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation, within which we have to carry out the “digital transformation” of the electric grid complex of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region until 2030 at outperforming growth rates. To date, a “road map” has been approved, in accordance with which, 6 regions of the service area, including the Voronezh region, have been selected for the implementation of pilot projects on “digitalization” for 3 years. By 2022, the power engineers shall complete the main works, including the creation of modern high-tech EGCC and the implementation of a single automated complex of operational and technological management. We will also carry out large-scale work in the distribution grid of 10 - 0.4 kV. The implementation of measures with the use of a distributed grid automation system will increase observability, significantly reduce the time to eliminate technological violations and, as a result, increase the reliability of power supply to consumers - it is for them that we primarily work,” stressed Igor Makovskiy in his speech.
