Pavel Livinskiy, Director General of ROSSETI, reported to the Head of the Ministry of Energy of Russia, Alexander Novak, on the results of the power engineering exercises

21 December 2018

Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ROSSETI Alexander Novak, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Igor Shchegolev, and Director General of ROSSETI Pavel Livinskiy, officially closed the exercises of the electric grid holding, held in different regions of the country for three months with the involvement of specialists from almost all branches of subsidiaries.

“The President of Russia attaches great importance to the development of infrastructure. During the press conference, Vladimir Putin noted that in the present conditions it is necessary to learn to concentrate resources on the main areas. Such exercises, which were conducted by ROSSETI, are just an example of solving the problem of increasing the stability and sustainability of one of the key infrastructure industries. We expect that, as a result of the exercises, the number of failures will decrease by more than two times and the speed of their elimination will increase, we are counting on a new technological level of grid management, cost reduction. This means that our citizens will have better living conditions, and our entrepreneurs will have better conditions for doing business, which is especially important in the current economic conditions,” stressed Igor Shchegolev.

Almost 23.5 thousand specialists took part in the exercises of ROSSETI’s Group at the beginning of the heating season of 2018, and around 3.5 thousand units of specialized vehicles were at their disposal.

“In the shortest possible time, a significant set of measures was implemented to improve the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers in 30 regions. The total amount of work carried out at facilities of all voltage classes from 0.4 to 750 kV exceeds the annual repair program of any IDGC, and the fact that they were able to be carried out in the difficult conditions of the autumn-winter period is a great victory. Congratulations on the successful completion of the exercises!” stressed Alexander Novak.

During the practical development of the interaction skills of power engineers, almost 38 thousand km of overhead power lines were repaired, for which over 21 thousand poles were replaced, and 1,200 km of self-supporting insulated wire were installed, 900 transformer substations were repaired, over 26.5 thousand hectares ROWs along overhead lines were cleared, and over 11.5 thousand hectares were expanded.

To prepare for the digital transformation of the electric grid infrastructure, over 81 thousand power facilities of ROSSETI’s Group were verified in the digital model of electric grids (GIS) during the exercises.

“I thank all the participants of the exercises for their professional skills. All the tasks have been achieved, many “narrow” places in the country’s electricity grids have been eliminated. The result of our events will be an even more confident operation through the heating season by all the companies of ROSSETI’s Group, which - and this is the main thing - will have a positive effect on consumers who can be sure that they will have light and heat in any weather. Congratulations on the end of the exercises and, of course, on our professional holiday - the Power Engineers’ Day!” stressed Pavel Livinskiy.

As a result of the set of measures implemented during the exercises, the security and safety of electricity supply to millions of consumers has significantly increased: on average, the failure rate in the power grids in the areas, where the exercises were held, has been reduced by 30%, and the time to eliminate technological disruptions if they occur - by 40%.
