Power engineers received new specialized vehicles

7 November 2018

ROWs of power lines in the Lipetsk region will now be cleared with the help of modern mulchers.

The first batch of new vehicles was received by IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division. First responding mobile crews of Distribution Zones and the substation service will receive twelve UAZ vehicles. In addition, within a few days, two tractors with imported mulcher equipment will start clearing ROWs along power lines from trees and bushes. Carbide-tipped cutters cut and chop wood to 25 centimetres in diametre at a speed of five kilometres per hour.

“The new mulchers have high performance and allow to achieve the ideal result for expanding ROWs. This in turn will help avoid falling trees on overhead lines and power outages. We constantly clear ROWs of overhead lines, now it will be easier and faster to do it,” said Vladimir Irkhin, the acting head of the mechanization and transport service of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division.

By the end of this year, Lipetskenergo plans to acquire another 183 specialized vehicles. Among them there are crew cars, mobile auto repair shops, aerial platforms. Thus, the Distribution Zones of the Lipetsk region will be provided with equipment for prompt elimination of emergency situations and construction of new power lines.
