Specialists of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, as part of the working group, created by Rosseti Group of Companies and leading producers of the telecommunications infrastructure, participate in the development of the concept of building a single digital communication network of the domestic power grid complex. The goal of the project is to create a highly automated data network that supports protocols of the IEC group of standards, managed in real time, monitoring parameters and operating modes of segments and supporting self-diagnostics and self-healing functions.
The work on creating a single digital communication network is conducted using the latest conceptual approaches and packet data transfer technologies (MPLS), taking into account the need for a phased upgrade of the current telecommunications infrastructure. In addition, the project implies a reduction in labour costs required to maintain the network by improving skills of employees and creating a single control centre that monitors the network status and settings in each Rosseti’s subsidiary.
IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region have already initiated the first stage of professional development of employees. Principles for implementation of cybersecurity and uniform principles for procurement and configuration of equipment have been developed. An agreement was reached with the System Operator on new principles of information exchange.
Until the end of 2018, within the framework of the project, it is planned to create a competence centre to build a unified communication network of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region. At the same time, according to plans, the project will be implemented in four branches of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - here a total of more than one hundred power facilities will be covered by a single digital communication network. Based on the results of the measures already taken, the specific operating costs of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region for leasing of communication channels were reduced by more than 15% per year due to possibilities of virtual redundancy and segmentation of communication channels.
