IDGC of Centre received a letter of gratitude from NRU "MPEI" for fruitful cooperation in the field of development and implementation of new technologies and development of scientific capacity

2 July 2018

IDGC of Centre received a letter of gratitude from the National Research University "MPEI" (NRU "MPEI"). The document, signed by the chairman of the board of trustees of the educational institution, the Minister of Energy Alexander Novak and the rector of the Scientific Research Institute "MPEI" Nikolay Rogalev, was given to the company for the great contribution to the development and implementation of new technologies in the electric power industry, innovative products, modernization of the training complex and for fruitful activity in the development of scientific capacity and cooperation with NRU "MPEI".

IDGC of Centre conducts systematic work to expand the use of modern solutions and technologies in systems of maintenance, management, protection and transfer of information, communications and accounting systems. The most modern diagnostic tools and information and measuring systems, energy-saving and energy-efficient equipment are used more and more; new kinds of structural elements and materials are experimentally implemented. Feeding centres are equipped with modern gas-insulated and vacuum circuit breakers, multiprocessor protection systems. The process of complex automation and remote control is gaining momentum.

Currently, the company is working on a number of innovative projects. These include the development of an automatic control system for an unmanned aerial vehicle used to locate faults in elements of overhead power lines. The goal of another project is the creation of hardware for studying characteristics of conducting gases in the internal insulation of oil-filled equipment. The third development involves the creation of hardware and software to ensure the observability of the grid at 6-10 and 0.4 kV facilities equipped with electricity metering systems. All projects are aimed at improving the efficiency of operational activities.

IDGC of Centre reacts promptly and even anticipates challenges of the time. The company adopted the Innovative Development Program for 2016-2020 with a perspective up to 2025. One of its key areas is digitization of management processes and technological processes. It provides for the transition from analogue to digital control of automation of relay protection and emergency automatics, an automated process control system, electricity metering and communication (application of digital measuring transformers, vector mode registers, digital grid equipment, transition to a digital substation, etc.); digital modelling and design; digitalization of production assets management; implementation of digital systems for monitoring technological processes in electric grids and substations.

IDGC of Centre has many years of fruitful cooperation with NRU "MPEI". One of the large and significant projects implemented by the company together with the National Research University was the creation of the second stage of the training electric grid site on the basis of a branch of NRU "MPEI" - Konakovo Energy College. Students of the educational institution acquire here practical skills of working with real power grid equipment.

In addition, IDGC of Centre and NRU "MPEI" conduct an effective joint work to create innovative technologies for training operating electric grid personnel based on virtual reality technologies. Its results have prospects for wide application in practice of training departments of electric grid companies, and the experience gained in the course of the work is effectively used in new joint developments.
