An engineer of production safety and industrial control of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division Anatoly Voronenko rescued from the water a ten-year-old girl.
The incident occurred in the city of Oboyan. The power engineer rested with his family on the city beach on the Psel River, when he saw a child choking in the water. The girl swam just five metres from the shore, but there it was too deep for her and she began to sink. The count went for seconds. Anatoly, without hesitation, rushed into the water and pulled the child ashore. The girl was no longer breathing, so the power engineer immediately began resuscitation. After the victim came to her senses, she was transferred to the arrived ambulance.
"Our company pays great attention to training employees in skills of first aid and resuscitation: given the specifics of the work, they can come in handy at any time. Anatoly Voronenko correctly and properly applied them in practice, and this helped ultimately save the child’s life," stressed Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director.
The head of Oboyansky district Nikolay Chernousov thanked Anatoly Voronenko for saving the girl and said that the administration of the municipal entity was preparing documents and an application for rewarding him with a departmental award of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. The regional office of the department has already marked the power engineer with a letter of gratitude and a valuable gift.
This has been the second time recently when IDGC of Centre’s employees came to the rescue of children in a critical situation. At the end of May, a senior dispatcher of Dukhovschinsky Distribution Zone of the Smolensk branch of the company Alexey Sinitskiy saved two twins-third-graders who decided to swim in the wrong place. In this case the resuscitation skills were also useful for the power engineer. As it turned out later, the children are in the same form with the daughter of their rescuer.
