The Summer Sports Games of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region opened in Belgorod on the site of the sports complex of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. Participation in the annual sport event is attended by 330 strongest athletes from 15 regions of responsibility of both companies. Within two days they will play out 59 prizes in five sports: volleyball, mini-football, table tennis, chess, swimming.
The opening of the Sports Games took place in the form of a theatrical performance under the slogan: "Oh sport, you are unity!". The teams were welcomed by the chairman of the Sports Games organizing committee, Deputy General Director for HR management and organizational design of IDGC of Centre, Inna Gromova and Adviser to General Director, the chairman of the primary trade union organization of IDGC of Centre, Victor Ablezgov. He took the torch as a symbol of the opening of the sports days and future victories from the hands of the multiple winner of the world championships, Europe and Russia, member of the national kickboxing team among juniors Zhanna Kudriavtseva and European boxing champion, multiple winner of the Russian championships, Islam Nikerkhoev.
"Our companies appreciate sports, value them, support and develop sports traditions, cultivate a healthy lifestyle," stressed Victor Ablezgov. "The holding of the Summer Sports Games has already become a good tradition, but for the first time it takes place in such an expanded format, with the participation of a record number of energy athletes from both companies. We expect many victories and strong positive emotions from them."
The honorary guests of the opening ceremony of the Games were Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Oleg Abramov and Olympic Champion of 2012 in volleyball Sergey Tetyukhin. On behalf of the regional government, Oleg Abramov greeted the energy athletes on the Belgorod land, expressing the hope that this large-scale sporting event will be remembered for a long time. Sergey Tetyukhin wished all participants sports victories and high achievements.
On the first day of the tournament, group matches in volleyball and mini-football will be played and winners in personal championships in swimming, table tennis and chess will be determined. In the second and final day of the competition, e winners in the game types and the team leaders will be announced. Closing of the Sports Games and awarding winners will be held on 15 June.
