Rostec and Rosseti to develop digital grids in the Yaroslavl region

24 May 2018

Rostec State Corporation, PJSC Rosseti and the government of the Yaroslavl region signed a trilateral cooperation agreement, within which an intelligent innovation cluster of digital grids will be created in the region, as well as a project for production of smart electricity metering devices.

The goal of the project is more efficient operation of the power grid complex, ensuring uninterrupted and reliable power supply to consumers in the Yaroslavl region through obtaining accurate and timely information, increasing manageability and implementing automated smart metering of electricity.

"Digitalization of the power economy of cities and regions of Russia is an ambitious state project that will improve the quality and reliability of energy supply. The Yaroslavl region is in fact the first region in which the smart system will allow ordinary consumers, businesses and government customers to manage energy consumption more efficiently, including distribution of power at peak loads. It is also important that complex "smart" equipment will be produced at Russian enterprises of Rostec State Corporation. Import substitution in this sensitive area for the country today is more important than ever," said Governor of the Yaroslavl region Dmitry Mironov.

The document was signed by Governor of the Yaroslavl region Dmitry Mironov, Head of Vega Concern (part of RosElectronics Holding of Rostec State Corporation) Vyacheslav Mikheev and General Director of IDGC of Centre (part of Rosseti) Oleg Isaev during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The agreement presupposes the implementation in the region of a pilot project "Creation of an intelligent innovation cluster of digital grids".

Also, under the terms of the agreement, Rostec State Corporation and PJSC Rosseti, in cooperation with the government of the Yaroslavl region, will implement the investment project "Production of Smart Electricity Metering Devices" in the region by the end of 2019. As part of the implementation of the investment project, it is planned to provide the volume of production of smart electricity meters in the amount of at least 300 thousand units per year.

"This will expand the range of products manufactured by enterprises of Rostec State Corporation in the Yaroslavl region, including those not represented on the market today, and ensure import substitution in this area," Vyacheslav Mikheyev, Head of Vega Concern, stressed.

"The new digital approach to the operation of the power grid complex, which affects all areas of the power industry, requires new thinking and fundamentally new solutions in planning and operation, and even requires changes in the structure of energy enterprises," added Oleg Isaev, Head of IDGC of Centre.

In addition, the signed agreement envisages the development of a scientific and technical partnership with higher educational institutions and scientific and technical teams in the Yaroslavl region in the development and implementation of advanced digital technologies, conducting sectoral expertise of implemented R&Ds, produced innovative products and training of specialized staff.
