Employees of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region will again support the global action "Earth Hour", which will be held on 24 March 2018 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The companies will switch off the external lighting on buildings of branch offices and will strengthen control over the operation of the power grid complex and changes of weather conditions in the regions of its service area (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation).
The Earth Hour is an international action, during which the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) calls to turn off lights for one hour to demonstrate a partial attitude to the future of the planet. At the same time, the illumination of the most famous buildings and monuments of the world is switched off.
Voluntary power outage by consumers for one hour cannot significantly affect the activities of the Russian distribution grid complex, however, the power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region as a preventive measure to maintain the reliability of electricity supply to consumers will traditionally monitor the level of energy consumption and the functioning of energy facilities.
Supporting the environmental initiative reminding of the need for rational use of the planet’s resources, the employees of branches and executive bodies of both companies will ensure uninterrupted and high-quality operation of the energy system. This concerns the work of dispatching services of the branches, first responding mobile crews, persons being on duty at substations of the company’s production departments on 24 March. In addition, the duty of responsible persons from the number of technical directors of all the branches will be organized.
Today Earth Hour is the most massive environmental action on the planet. It is attended by more than 2 billion people around the world from more than 184 countries and almost 7,000 cities. The purpose of Earth Hour is not to save electricity. This action is a symbol of careful attitude to nature. From year to year this event allows drawing attention to the need for responsible attitude to the world around us.
