The restoration of electricity in the Tver region involved more than 900 power engineers

4 August 2017

In the Tver region emergency work to eliminate power outages caused by a powerful hurricane will be conducted around the clock until faulty power lines are completely restored.

"At present, the restoration of power supply in the Tver region is under special control of the headquarters of the power grid complex of PJSC Rosseti and the operational headquarters of IDGC of Centre. The situation is also under personal control of Governor of the Tver region Igor Rudenya," said Alexander Pilyugin, First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre. "Additional crews from 13 constituent entities of the Russian Federation were involved in the work to restore reliable energy supply. More than 900 power engineers are working in the Tver region now. Increased attention is paid to the temporary power supply of socially important facilities, including hospitals, kindergartens and children’s health camps. To this end, 42 standby power supply sources are being used, with a total capacity of 3.4 MVA."

11 serious faults of 110 kV lines and 35 kV lines passing through the territories of Selizharovsky, Ostashkovsky, Kuvshinovsky, Andreapolsky, Nelidovsky, Toropetsky and Zapadnodvinsk districts, are under control of the power engineers. Hurricane winds there broke traverses, fell poles, piled up trees and tore wires. At the same time, more than 400 faults are being removed at 0.4 kV overhead lines.

At present, in Andreapolsky, Toropetsky and Zapadnodvinsky districts, deterioration of weather conditions has been again recorded, which causes new emergency power outages. The power engineers are increasing the grouping of forces and means in this area.

Together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Tver region and municipal authorities, electricity supply to each connected consumer is monitored. At the same time, those consumers who receive electricity indirectly from the branch’s grids, that is, connected to power lines of garden and non-profit organizations, territorial grid organizations and other grid owners, are also under control of the power engineers. "Yes, this creates a certain kind of complexity both in coordinating the actions of emergency restoration operations and in monitoring the safety of power engineers performing repair work in neighbouring grids. However, we perfectly understand the extent of our responsibility for the uninterrupted functioning of the energy system of the Tver region and never divide consumers on "ours" and "strangers"," stressed Alexander Pilyugin.
