Power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region help restore power supply disrupted by the strongest cyclone in the Ulyanovsk region

In the past day, the Ulyanovsk region had a severe impact of the elements, accompanied by torrential rains and gusts of wind up to 25 m/s. For the day in the region it was 118 mm of precipitation, which several times exceeded the monthly rate. The main blow was taken by the Ulyanovsky, Cherdaklinsky, Staromaynsky districts. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the most unfavourable situation is in the city of Ulyanovsk. Weather forecasters predict deterioration of weather conditions in the next 24 hours - winds will increase up to 25-27 m/s, incessant rains, thunderstorms, hail is possible in the region​​.

IDGC of Volga - "Ulyanovsk Distribution Grids" introduced a special operating mode. The restoration of electricity supply to settlements began immediately after the first reports of outages were received. Crews from neighbouring regions were sent to help Ulyanovsk power engineers.

The active assistance to colleagues is provided by power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region. Emergency recovery crews and equipment from branches of both companies were promptly dispatched to the weather-affected districts of the Ulyanovsk region. Currently, specialists of the branches "Voronezhenergo", "Tambovenergo" and "Lipetskenergo" of IDGC of Centre and the branch "Ryazanenergo" of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, provided with all necessary materials and equipment, are working there. They are taking part in first responding and restoration operations and work to transfer customers to backup power circuits.

In addition, IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region have 184 crews of increased mobility ready for responding to major technological violations and providing assistance to SDCs of PJSC Rosseti, consisting of 1,218 people and 371 vehicles.

The work is planned to continue until the restoration of the regular electricity supply circuit for all consumers in the region.
