Power engineers of IDGC of Centre promptly restore the cyclone-disturbed power supply to consumers in certain districts of the Voronezh region

1 July 2017

On the night of 30 June to 1 July in some districts of the Voronezh region due to deterioration in weather conditions, rain and gusts of wind up to 18 m/s, there are cases of technological violations at grid facilities. The cyclone, which passes from Moscow to the south, has affected Ramonsky, Novousmansky and Semiluksky districts. The cause of power outages in most cases are the fall of trees and branches on power lines, as well as cross-whipping and breakage of wires due to strong wind.

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division reacted promptly to the current situation. The branch introduced a high alert operation mode, and repair crews of Voronezhenergo immediately began to eliminate the effects of bad weather. First of all, the energy supply of socially significant facilities is being restored: kindergartens, schools, medical institutions. Work on all sections of damaged power lines will be carried out until the consumers’ energy supply is completely restored. In case of need, repair crews from other branches of IDGC of Centre will be involved in repair and restoration work.

To ensure the stable functioning of the energy complex in the period of unfavourable weather conditions, the emergency response crews, machinery and equipment are ready throughout the territory of the service area of Voronezhenergo. The energy company is in constant interaction with the hydrometeorological services, communication is established with units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The specialists of the branch supervise the situation and are ready to react quickly to possible violations in the operation of the power grid complex.
