16 June 2017, the solemn closing ceremony of the VIII Summer Sports Games of IDGC of Centre was held. For two days, about 350 power engineers-sportsmen from 11 branches of IDGC of Centre and the team of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region fought for the title of the strongest.
In total, 5 sets of awards were competed for: in volleyball, mini-football, track-and-field relay race, swimming relay race, and also the best team at the end of the Sports Games. In the all-around GTO 5 women and 5 men were awarded gold medals for the best personal achievements in the age groups, and the trophy team-winner in the all-round GTO was awarded the cup. Also, awards were given to the best football player and the best volleyball player of the Games.
As a result, the team championship of the Summer Sports Games in 2017 was won by the team of Belgorodenergo. The cup for the second place was taken away by colleagues from Yarenergo, and the bronze medal winners of the sports games were representatives of Udmurtenergo.
The all-round GTO included 7 sport events for women and men of different ages. Participants competed in 50 m swimming, running at 60 or 100 m, standing long jumping, shooting from an electronic weapon from a distance of 10 m, tilting forward from a standing position with straight legs on a gymnastic bench. The women also showed their skills in arm-pumping exercises and sitting-up in back-lying position, while the men in pulling up from the suspension on a high crossbar and throwing implement. In the team event in the all-round GTO event, the first step of the pedestal was taken by athletes of Udmurtenergo. The second place went to the Smolenskenergo’s team, the third place went to Belgorodenergo. Awards for personal results in the all-round of GTO were taken by Ekaterina Karpova (Voronezhenergo), Olga Panova (Kostromaenergo), Valentina Chusova (Orelenergo), Olga Simanova and Elena Pavlova (Udmurtenergo) - they became the best in their age categories. Among the men, Andrey Belik, Alexey Yakovlev and Sergey Denisenko from Belgorodenergo, Sergey Meshalnikov from Kostromaenergo and Yury Marakazov from Yarenergo won the first place in their age groups.
In the swimming relay race the top three leaders were Belgorodenergo, Yarenergo and Voronezhenergo. The athletics relay race showed that the fastest power engineers work in the Orel branch of the company, representatives of Kostromaenergo and Bryanskenergo are slightly weaker in speed.
In tense volleyball competitions, the Udmurtenergo’s team won, which took victory from Yaroslavl colleagues. Belgorodenergo closed the top three in volleyball. And in mini-football, the balance of forces is different. The team of Kurskenergo is at the highest level of the podium. Behind them – power engineers from the Tambov branch of the company, the 3rd place of honour went to Voronezhenergo. The best player this year was Ruslan Safarov from Kurskenergo, and the cup to the best volleyball player will go to Udmurtia - it was won by Sergey Turanov.
With congratulatory words, the resident of Smolensk, the Olympic champion in hammer throwing, the European champion, the multiple champion of Russia, the ex-world record holder, the Honoured Master of Sports of Russia Olga Kuzenkova addressed the winners and participants: "Energy is life, and sport is also life. You are good fellows, that you continue the traditions of the GTO, revive them among power engineers. I congratulate you on the completion of the holiday, on your victories, on the fact that you have found new friends."
The winners were awarded to Deputy General Director for HR Management and Organizational Design Inna Gromova, Chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization Victor Ablezgov, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division director Sabir Agamaliev.
