15 June 2017, at the stadium of the Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture of Sports and Tourism in Smolensk, the solemn opening of the VIII Summer Sports Games of Power Engineers of IDGC of Centre took place. The event brought together about 400 participants from regions of Central Russia and the Volga region. The team of the branch of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - "Udmurtenergo" takes part in the Games for the first time.
Deputy Governor of the Smolensk region Lev Platonov addressed with a welcome word to the participants of the sports festival. He greeted the participants of the sports day on behalf of Governor of the Smolensk region Alexey Ostrovsky, and expressed the hope that the competitions will be held at a high level.
On behalf of the company’s management, the participants in the Games were greeted by Deputy General Director for HR Management and Organizational Design Inna Gromova, Chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization Victor Ablezgov and Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division director of the Sabir Agamaliev. All the heads noted that the corporate sports days of power engineers have become a good sporting tradition of IDGC of Centre. Victor Ablezgov drew attention to the fact that the VIII Summer Sports Games are the first sports day in the sports history of the company, which takes place on the land of the city-hero of Smolensk.
This year, the theme of the Sports Games is Ready for Labour and Defense (GTO). Power engineers decided to try their hand at passing the test. The slogan of the Games: "Power engineer - be healthy and always ready for work" once again confirms the readiness of employees for high sports and production results.
The flag of the competitions was solemnly brought in by representatives of the Belgorodenergo team, the winner of the previous Sports Games.
Immediately after the solemn opening ceremony, all-round GTO, volleyball and mini-football competitions began. All results will be known on the evening of the second competitive day - 16 June.
