IDGC of Centre provides electricity to a unique international agricultural project in the Tambov region

11 September 2015

In the Tambov region in the territory of Pervomaisky district the first phase of the project was commissioned to build a vertically integrated complex for growing and processing turkey of LLC "Tambov turkey", implemented by the largest agro-industrial company in Russia PJSC "Cherkizovo Group" and one of the leading manufacturers of turkey in Europe, the company Grupo Fuertes (Spain). The ceremony was attended by Acting Head of the Tambov Region Administration Alexander Nikitin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Cherkizovo Group" Igor Babayev, representatives of the largest resource supplying companies in the region. IDGC of Centre was represented by Deputy General Director - Director of the branch "Tambovenergo" Vladimir Syschikov.

"Tambov turkey" is the only international project of this scale in the Russian agricultural sector. The facility with its production capacity of 40 thousand tons of turkey meat per year (in the long term the manufacture is to be tripled) includes a hatchery, feed mill, four sites of nursery, a slaughterhouse, modern warehouses and sanitary checkpoints. The first phase of construction includes 4 buildings of nursery ground №3, 12 buildings of fattening grounds №3 and an incubator with its capacity of 5.9 million eggs per year - one of the most modern in Russia. During the project implementation for the residents of Pervomaisky and other nearby districts more than 900 jobs will be created with wages by 10-15% higher than the average wage in the region. As expected, the facility will produce the first products in the first quarter of 2016.

IDGC of Centre provides electricity to "Tambov turkey" with grid infrastructure in the framework of the signed in June 2015 with the administration of the Tambov region concession agreement, which became the first project of public-private partnership in the Russian electric grid. Within the deadlines for power supply of the first stage of the new facility experts of the Tambov branch of the company constructed about 25 kilometres of power lines of 10 kV, installed a 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation of 1 MVA. Electrical installations were commissioned in August 2015 and are ready for full loading. In the future, within the framework of the project implementation IDGC of Centre’s power engineers will construct 180 kilometres of 6/10 kV and about 20 transformer substations of 10/0.4 kV. The facility will be powered with the second category of reliability.

"Tambov turkey" is not the only large and significant agricultural project in the Tambov region in which IDGC of Centre participates in the framework of the concession agreement. The company will also provide power supply to a facility for production and processing of poultry meat, being built on the site of OJSC "Tokarevskaya poultry farm". The facility is being built under the state program of support of investment projects carried out in the territory of the Russian Federation on the basis of project financing, its production capacity will be around 150 thousand tons of poultry meat in live weight per year. It is expected that it will be put into operation in 2016, around two thousand jobs will be created there.

The implementation of both projects mentioned above is being carried out with the active participation of IDGC of Centre, is of great importance for the economic development of the Tambov region and contributes significantly to the Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation, the state policy of import substitution and the program of development of the domestic agricultural sector, ensuring its structural adjustment and the transition from inefficient to modern innovative production.
