Power engineers of IDGC of Centre provide electricity to a new tank range

Belgorod power engineers of IDGC of Centre provide electricity to a tank range, which is currently under construction on the territory of the State Military Historical Museum "Prokhorovka Field". The opening is scheduled for 16 May 2015, the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Under the grid connection contract experts of the branch installed a 400 kVA transformer substation, powering the construction site and the main functional facilities of the tank range. In addition to the spectator stands, special tracks, parking lots, fences and the podium, there will be 8 armoured vehicles on the move, which the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation transferred to the museum to demonstrate the technical capabilities of combat vehicles. Visitors to the museum will be able to see them in motion.

The tank range will be the first phase of the new Museum of armoured vehicles, with a request for the creation of which the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin addressed the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. It will be located not far from the built in 2010 Museum "Third Battlefield of Russia". In the future, the power of the Museum of armoured vehicles can grow up to 1.2 MW.

The Museum of armoured vehicles will join the Museum "Prokhorovka Field", created in 1995 for the 50th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In 2010, the 65th anniversary of Victory in its territory the modern museum complex "Third Battlefield of Russia" was opened. In the premises of "Prokhorovka Field" there are 22 memorable signs and facilities. The largest is the Belfry, the Museum of Military Glory "Third Battlefield of Russia" and the Cultural Centre with a library after N.I. Ryzhkov situated therein.
