Power engineers of IDGC of Centre opened an innovative educational laboratory at a Kostroma higher educational institution

In early July in Kostroma a joint educational project of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division and Kostroma State Technological University (KSTU) was launched. The relevant Agreement between the university and inter-regional energy company was signed by Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division director Alexander Glebov and Acting Rector of KSTU Vladimir Repin. The result of the project is the creation on the KSTU site of a training lab of Kostromaenergo "Automated process control systems in the electric grid".

The main focus of the laboratory is retraining of specialists to work with the latest microprocessor technology, implemented at facilities of IDGC of Centre. The room is equipped with relay protection and automation of recent modifications, supervisory and process control, AMR. All equipment and specialized software was provided by ABB, Sistel, SOUTH-system plus, ZAO Energoalliance. The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by Head of MV relay protection and automation equipment of LLC "ABB Power and Automation Systems" Irina Solonina (Moscow), who commented on the technical characteristics and capabilities of the equipment provided and expressed willingness to cooperate in the field of training of teachers, who will teach students and staff of Kostromaenergo in the new laboratory. In the near future it is expected to have a meeting on the supply of equipment with representatives of ZAO "Systems of communication and remote control" (St. Petersburg).

At the signing ceremony of the Agreement on the implementation of the educational project Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division director Alexander Glebov said that nowadays the production cannot exist without science, as well as the science now cannot develop in isolation from the modern production. He stressed that the new specialized laboratory was created thanks to the enthusiasm and energy of employees of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division and KSTU. As a result of this cooperation, the university will be able to train students on the newest equipment, with the new lab being also a platform for increasing qualifications of specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division.

Creating the specialized laboratory in the university is a momentous event not only for IDGC of Centre, but also for the educational environment and employers of the Kostroma region. The main goal of the personnel policy in IDGC of Centre is to achieve a certain level of quality of personnel, who can provide competitive and strategic development of the Company. "An important activity in this area is the development of potential of employees," stressed at the opening of the laboratory Head of Human Resources of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division Nadezhda Muravyeva. "Already in the fourth quarter of 2014 it is planned to develop a program following which they will be able on the site of the new laboratory to improve their skills."

IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division and Kostroma State Technological University have had long-term cooperation. They jointly implement research projects, annually students of information specialties have their practical work. "For the university this interaction is very important," says Pro-Rector for Research of KSTU Professor Mikhail Kiselev. "It is now that the Russian government pays special attention to interaction programs of higher educational institutions with major state corporations. And in this case the opening of the new lab will not only improve the training of students to the next level, but will also allow the university to engage in scientific developments at the global level. With regard to students’ learning, work in the laboratory will give them practical skills so that their future employers will not have to spend time on the "fine-tuning" of young professionals."
