Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre are ready to meet the bad weather

December 11-12, 2013 in the Smolensk region there is deteriorating weather conditions associated with the movement of the cyclone, which will bring heavy rainfall in the form of rain and sleet. Currently, here are wind gusts reaching 15-17 m/s, in some areas of the region there is dropdown of sticking wet snow on wires and poles of overhead power lines. According to the forecast of RosHydromet over the night in the region the temperature may go below zero degrees, which can cause icing of power lines. Chance of severe weather persists on 13 December.

IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division set up high alert operation mode. There are other 37 crews (75 people) and 37 vehicles on duty, in case of major technological disturbances in electricity supply to consumers connected to the deteriorating weather conditions the staff may be increased to 196 crews (1041 people) and 306 vehicles.

The operation and staffing of 46 redundant power supply sources was checked, which, if necessary, they will enable to provide consumers with backup power supply during the first responding and restoration operations.

Special control over the work of power facilities has been set, fire safety measures have been enhanced, and interaction with the territorial divisions of EMERCOM and executive authorities, MES of Centre of JSC «FGC UES» and other territorial power grid organizations has been organized.
