IDGC of Centre year connects educational institutions to its grid for the new school

6 August 2013

In anticipation of the new school year IDGC of Centre is completing work on grid connection of a number of educational institutions. Total in the first half of 2013 the company signed 72 grid connection contracts for educational institutions with total capacity of 4.8 MW, and 42 have been executed — with the capacity of 1.3 MW.

In the city of Smolensk IDGC of Centre has provided reliable power supply to the Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. To this end, in a short time a modular package transformer substation with two power transformers of 1000 KVA was installed. Through the use of this type of substations the construction and installation works were reduced to 7 days. Within the project two 6 kV cable lines with a total length of more than three kilometers were also constructed. The cables were laid with a modern method of horizontal directional drilling, which allowed to construct the line under the roadway at the intersection of two busy city avenues without breaking the surface. Timely and quality work performance in the shortest time possible allowed to provide grid connection to an athletic arena, swimming pool, practice area, spectator stands for 2,000 people, an athletic complex, facilities for tennis, and a rollerdrome.

By the end of September 2013 Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre plan to complete work on the power supply of the second phase of the renovation of the Academy of Sports and Tourism, which provides for commissioning of a skating rink, soccer field with automatic heating and watering, and race tracks.

In the city of Smolensk at faster pace the grid connection of a progymnasium for gifted children has been also performed. To do this, the substation 35/6 «Ash», which will provide electricity for the new school, has been reconstructed: power of one of the transformers from 400 KVA to 630 KVA was increased, ISG busbars and bus lines were upgraded, and an automatic tripping circuit breaker was installed at the transformer input bay. All work was performed using the latest brands and types of equipment. At the moment the reconstruction is fully completed, which means that on September 1, the Day of Knowledge, the doors of the progymnasium will swing open for 240 children. The school will create conditions for the early identification of gifted children, their artistic and aesthetic development.

In the Lipetsk region the power engineers connected to their networks a number of educational and children’s institutions located in rural areas and villages. So, in the village of Volovo in Volovsky district of the Lipetsk region a new music school was connected to the grid of IDGC of Centre — Lipetskenergo division, in the village of Korobovka in Gryazinsky district — a modular boiler-room of its school, in the village of Izmalkovo in Izmalkovsky district — a children’s swimming pool.

One of the most important projects of the investment program of IDGC of Centre in the Yaroslavl region was the grid connection of the educational centre of the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushinsky, which is a resident of the industrial park «Novoselki». To provide electricity in July 2013 IDGC of Centre constructed and put into operation the 110/10-10 kV substation «Novoselki» — one of the most high-tech power grid facilities in the region. The educational centre plans to train specialists for the pharmaceutical industry.

In the near future in Yaroslavl IDGC of Centre also plans to implement grid connection of a specialized hockey school of middle educational level with its capacity of 5.2 MW. The project includes an educational centre, an ice arena, and a hotel for athletes. To connect the facility JSC «Yargorelectroset» (a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDGC of Centre) will construct cable lines, and Yarenergo will perform a comprehensive reconstruction of the substation «Seagull».

Provision of reliable and quality power supply to the socio-critical facilities, including educational institutions, is being implemented as part of a long-term investment program for 2013-2018. The implementation of the customer-centric approach, the optimization of grid connection procedures, constructed in the framework of the task to improve the availability of power infrastructure for further socio-economic development of the regions is a priority of IDGC of Centre’s activity.
